If you have a button-up that needs an avant-garde twist, I can refresh it with an arched hem in the front and cropped straight across the back. I would then either clean-finish the cut edge or add bias-tape (which could be a monochromatic color or a contrast color). There is also the option of extending the bias tape past the front hem so that it dangles asymmetrically in front. This method works best with a crisp woven button-up, but it might possibly work with a stable sweater/knit cardigan or some jackets.
