Hello and enchanté.

Laurs Kemp is aware that when you read this bio you will have a moment of realization that she either gave someone the task of writing it (must be nice) or she is writing in the third person (the nerve). And yes, she also realizes that by lifting the veil she is dangerously close to entering into an indulgent hell spiral.

But I digress. She! She digresses. She refuses to be dommed by her own biography webpage.

Laurs Kemp is a clothing designer who strives to create new ways to rework materials that already exist in the world. In her Portland,OR studio (on unceded Chinook land) she designs one-offs and small batches using mostly second-hand materials and fabric remnants to reduce textile waste whenever possible.

She also loves to collaborate with other makers, shops and brands to create capsule collections, dance/stage costumes and one-off projects. Reach out if you want to pitch a collaboration, request garments for a style loan-out, want to inquire about wholesale, etc.

Since brainstorming new ideas is quite possibly her favorite part of the whole affair, she documents her reworking process to create tutorials and process videos so you can upcycle right along with her. Available on her substack, patreon and youtube.

Laurs is positively wild about cinema. You can keep tabs on her personal film obsession by following her letterboxd. She also publishes niche “movie moodboards” based around hyper-specific themes on her substack and patreon.
